Intercultural dinner
On the 23rd of July 2009, during the Youth Exchange “Urban Two”, organized by “Together France” association, there was an Intercultural Dinner at representative are of Metz Town Hall.
As participants of this exchange, we were eager to express our cultural features to other nationalities in such nice surroundings. Each group spent a lot of time preparing the most representative food of their country trying to prepare something delicious that would also represent their cookery tradition.
In the evening, we arranged the trip to Metz and set up the buffet in the Town Hall. We made a pretty circle of tables, one table per group, so that the atmosphere was even better and everyone could feel equally included in the presentation and of course in terms of the ability to be seen easily.
Home French team presented the best selection of cheese and also a salty pie consisting of eggs, ham, cheese and some spices.
We saw a lot of pork ham and salami from Spanish group. They cooked a Spanish omelet with potatoes and meat as well.
Poland presented some of their sweets and served pierogi - a dish of Slavic origin, consisting of boiled dumplings of unleavened dough stuffed with meat.
Who expected delicious lasagna from Italian team, wasn't disappointed at all! Everyone was served with a big portion of this tasty meal.
Greeks prepared olive pasta, some spicy meat and smashed potatoes, all creatively arranged.
From Estonia we could taste barley porridge and two eye-catching sweet cakes with peaches on top. They also gave us the chance to taste their famous Kalev chocolate.
Czechs fried bramboraky – fried potatoes pancakes and then server typical spa wafers and other sweets.
At the end of this banquet, everyone was full and greatly satisfied with all the different tasty food that we ate in a nice atmosphere of international sharing of domestic cuisines.
